"A Wonderful Creationist Heritage" – Part I
By Dr. John C. Whitcomb

I personally look forward to another special, God-given opportunity to speak about the Creator of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ. On Saturday, Nov. 5, God willing, we will have the Second Annual Day with Whitcomb Ministries, entitled, "Creation: The Christian's Vital Heritage," to be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Menomonee Falls, Wis., from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

I am so thankful to announce that the other speaker for this one-day conference will be Dr. Terry Mortenson, representing Answers in Genesis. He served for nearly two decades in Eastern Europe, and earned a Ph.D. in the history of geology from Coventry University in England (1996). In 2001, he became a speaker, researcher, and writer for Answers in Genesis in Kentucky. Terry and his wife, Margie, have three sons and five daughters. His outstanding book, The Great Turning Point, provides an explosive body of research that proves young-earth creationism is not "young," so to speak, but was believed by Bible-believing scientists in Europe and America hundreds of years ago. This is the opposite story told by leading scholars on both sides of the Atlantic. It is a story that will open eyes and hearts to the veracity of God's Word.

(A VCY Rally will also follow the conference at the Waukesha Expo Center, where I will speak on the topic, "How Did the Human Race Begin?". For more information on these events, see the announcement below, visit our website, or email conference@whitcombministries.org. We are trusting the Lord to use this conference and rally to bring the great truths of creationism – to which both Whitcomb Ministries and Answers in Genesis are completely committed – to the Greater Milwaukee Area in a fresh way.)

The conference, then, will focus on God's perspective concerning ultimate origins. Human theories, hypotheses, speculations, and opinions come and go. But the God who cannot lie (Tit. 1:2), who was there when the world began, has written a perfect book – the Bible – which He requires that we read and believe (Rom. 10:17).

The Bible, God's unique, inerrant, inspired, infallible written revelation, informs us that the world was not the product of some vague Designer (to say nothing of time through chance by mindless evolution!), but was the creative work of the Second Person of the Triune God, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Through Christ, the eternal Son of God, "were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers [i.e., different ranks of angelic beings]: all things were created by Him, and for Him: ...and by Him all things consist [i.e., hold together]" (Col. 1:16-17).

Thus, the Father is infinitely concerned "that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father" (John 5:23). The reason for this is that Jesus Christ is the only Light of the world (John 8:12). In fact, He is "the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world" (John 1:9). Instead of walking in the light of Christ, who told us that the human race was created and existed "from the beginning of the creation" (Mark 10:6), many Christians have been deeply influenced by evolutionary or uniformitarian theories (such as theistic evolution, the day-age view, the framework hypothesis, the gap theory, or progressive creationism) that put Adam and Eve billions of years after the creation of the earth. In this way, the vital and foundational truth of creation is compromised, and biblical foundations are seriously weakened.

Next month, then, we will think further about the vital and blessed heritage that Christians enjoy as we understand the truths of creationism.

To Be Continued...

Hear Dr. Whitcomb speak this month
Dr. Whitcomb began this month by speaking at the Living Hope Church in Winchester, Wis. He then continued with a week in Kansas, where he held conferences in the Grace Bible Church of Hutchinson and the Mission Road Bible Church of Prairie Village.

This week, from Sept. 19 to 23, Dr. Whitcomb is teaching a module at one of his favorite annual stops – Faith Baptist Theological Seminary in Ankeny, Iowa. He is lecturing on "The Creation of the World." For more information on this course, call Dr. John Hartog III at 515-964-0601, or visit www.faith.edu.

Dr. Whitcomb will spend the first two weeks of next month, from Oct. 4 to 14, teaching two modules on the book of Genesis at another of his favorite schools – the Word of Life Bible Institute of Pottersville, N.Y. For more information on these courses, call Dr. Tom Davis at 518-494-4723, or visit www.wol.org/biblei/.

Please pray for Dr. Whitcomb’s continued safety, health and wisdom in these busy days, and be sure to check to see if he is coming to speak at a conference near you.

WMI conference only six weeks away
The Second Annual Day with Whitcomb Ministries is now less than two months away! The theme this year is "Creation: The Christian’s Vital Heritage." Please pray as promotions for the event are now in full force in churches and schools across southern Wisconsin. Around 6,000 brochures are being distributed for this conference, and announcements for it have been viewed on www.sermonaudio.com about 10,000 times. If you would like to register or request more information, please email conference@whitcombministries.org.

This year's conference will feature Dr. Terry Mortenson of Answers in Genesis as the guest keynote speaker, as well as the music of vocalist Sherry Trainer. It will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the new facilities of the Calvary Baptist Church of Menomonee Falls, Wis. (West Campus).

You can also learn more about this conference by visiting www.sermonaudio.com/whitcomb, where Our Featured Sermon is "The Second Annual Day with WMI: A Preview."

Dr. Whitcomb will conclude a very busy day on Nov. 5 by speaking at the VCY Rally at 7 p.m., at the Waukesha County Exposition Center. His topic will be: "How Did the Human Race Begin?" For more information on this event, visit www.vcyamerica.org. (Even if you are not within driving distance of the Milwaukee area, you can participate in this rally by means of listening over the Internet!)

Monograph growing; watch for special edition
We have had many favorable comments about the Monthly Monograph over the course of the first four issues, and we appreciate them all. Dr. Whitcomb is very glad to have this opportunity to communicate with the many friends that he has made through the years through this special new tool.

If you are receiving the Monograph, you are not alone – it will be sent to more than 750 people this month. Many of them are not only reading it, but using it as a means to visit our web pages, for which we are also very glad. Please feel free to give us helpful feedback so that we may know how we can serve you better in any of these areas.

We apologize for the lateness of this month’s Monograph, but trust that it will be a blessing to you. We also encourage you to watch for a special conference edition which will come to your email box in addition to the regular October issue.
