Transcription Scam
It has been brought to our attention that there is a scam that is being perpetrated on transcriptionists which involve the use of Whitcomb Ministries' sermons. The scammers are asking that some messages by Dr. Whitcomb be transcribed and are offering to pay around $2.00 per minute for the transcription. However, transcribers are also asked to pay for the publication with the promise that they will be reimbursed. This is in no way affiliated with our ministry. We are not seeking transcription services. This scam appears to be originating either in China or the UK. This scam has been run using other ministries' material as well. We do not believe there is any intent at all of publishing the sermons by Dr. Whitcomb (which would be a violation of copyright) but that the transcriptionists are being scammed by charging credit cards and the use of fraudulent credit cards in the transactions. Transcriptionists are being sent identical materials to transcribe. The emails sent to the transcriptionists are in poor English. We would anticipate that the name of the "organization" requesting transcription services will continue to change as warnings are posted. Just a word of caution.
